One way of making sure of a 'state of awe', is to get out of the comfortable little cocoon that we've built ourselves.
To walk on foot, to explore every nooks and crannies, to expose ourselves to as many unfamiliar situations as possible.
To not let out lives get into an autopilot without making efforts to provide bursts of unfamiliarity in between.

2 things.

1) An old fruit seller by the roadside, counting each rupee syillings carefully and holding each one like the most precious thing.
In my world, those would be loose change.

2) A lone caucasian man at a congested, dirty Indian wet market.Gangly, pale, blonde and sticks out like a sore thumb-on his face was the blissful smile of the traveller that has stumbled upon a completely new sights and sounds.
That man looked like he had hit a jackpot.
